Mr. Rhéaume also possesses a wealth of experience drafting and negotiating loan and guarantee agreements.  Furthermore, he represents financial institutions specialized in convertible, non-convertible and guaranteed debenture funded grants.

Mr. Rhéaume regularily advises a broad range of business clients, including representatives of publicly traded corporations, in complex merger and acquisition matters, as well as business sales.

“The pledge of securities by an Individual”, written by Maxime B. Rhéaume ((1995), 98 R. du N. 90) was cited by the Supreme Court of Canada in Val-Brillant vs Blouin ((2003) 1 R.C.S. 666), and represents the leading case on movable hypothecs claims.  Maxime has also written on the liability of a special partner who controls a corporate general partner in his article “La responsabilité du commanditaire“ ((2006) 40 R.J.T. 429).

Mr. Rhéaume is highly involved with the University of Montréal where he has been teaching corporate law since 1989. He is a member of the Board of the Law Faculty and an elected member of the University Assembly presided by the Rector (also known as the Senate in other Canadian and American universities). He is also active in community affairs of the University of Montréal, serving as a volunteer in various committees.
