Shayla Klein is a skilled lawyer specializing in employment and labour law, dedicated to supporting employers in navigating complex workplace issues. She provides comprehensive legal guidance to employers with unionized, non-unionized, and independent contractor workforces. Shayla advises employers on hiring, performance management, discipline, termination, disability management, restrictive covenants, human rights, employment standards, grievance arbitrations, collective bargaining agreement negotiation and interpretation, and privacy. She drafts and reviews employment agreements, restrictive covenants, contractor agreements, and workplace policies, and conducts thorough workplace investigations. A member of both the Alberta and Saskatchewan Bars, Shayla has successfully appeared at all levels of Court in both provinces. Shayla also regularly makes submissions before administrative tribunals such as the Human Rights Commission and has successfully defended employers against occupational health and safety violation charges.

Outside of work, Shayla is a passionate traveler, board game enthusiast, and outdoor adventurer. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, camping, and downhill skiing. She is also a dedicated volunteer with various organizations, including Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan and the Lifesaving Society of Alberta. As a Board Member of the YMCA, Shayla demonstrates her commitment to her community, balancing her professional pursuits with a strong desire to make a positive impact.

As an active member of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE), Shayla is committed to helping employers maintain compliant workplaces while effectively managing legal risks. Her proactive solutions aim to limit the risk of litigation exposure and support organizational success. Whether representing clients in disputes or acting in an advisory capacity, Shayla implements a pragmatic, results-driven approach to achieve client objectives.
