On June 19, 2024, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (“CDPQ”) announced the sale of its stake in eStruxture Data Centers, Canada’s largest data center provider, as part of a $1.8 billion investment transaction led by Fengate Asset Management (“Fengate”).
This strategic acquisition has enabled Fengate to strengthen its position in a fast-growing sector with increasing demand for storage capacity as the use of artificial intelligence grows.
EStruxture was founded in Montreal in 2017, and it now operates data centers in 15 locations across four cities in Canada. The acquisition is one of the largest privately led Canadian deals of the year.
Miller Thomson advised the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec with a team comprised of Yves Robillard, Philipp Park, Julien Morier and Philippe St-Louis (Corporate/M&A).
