With the three new arrivals, Miller Thomson’s national Restructuring & Insolvency Group has a roster of close to 30 lawyers across Canada. The Group routinely advises on operational and financial reorganizations, distressed acquisitions, liquidations and other restructuring transactions, as well as secured debt recoveries, and is regularly engaged in Canada’s largest and most complex insolvency proceedings.

- Patrick Corney: Patrick’s practice focuses on insolvency and restructuring litigation and is recognized by his clients for his clear and concise advocacy and commitment to success. He acts for debtor corporations, monitors, receivers, government regulators, secured and unsecured creditors, and purchasers of distressed assets.
- Bertrand Giroux: With a career spanning more than 30 years, Bertrand Giroux specializes in insolvency and commercial litigation, and is recognized by his peers for his intelligence, diplomacy and dexterity when tackling complicated matters or in high pressure situations. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, including shareholders remedies, restructuring and bankruptcy.
- James Reid: James’ practice involves all aspects of corporate restructuring and insolvency law. He regularly advises clients in reorganizations, corporate arrangements, receiverships, bankruptcies, security reviews and enforcement proceedings. He frequently represents secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, purchasers and court officers in domestic and cross-border cases.
