Eric Sherkin is a commercial litigation lawyer with a broad range of experience across many areas of practice. Eric has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario including the Court of Appeal for Ontario and Divisional Court. His practice touches upon issues including general corporate litigation, shareholder disputes, fraud, libel and slander, professional negligence, debt recovery, and everything in between, with particular emphasis on creditors’ remedies and contract disputes. He has extensive experience with injunctions, including Mareva, Norwich and Anton Piller orders, and a growing practice in appeals of property tax assessments under the Assessment Act.

Eric is an active member of his community. He has served as co-chair of the Young Lawyers division of the United Jewish Appeal’s Young Leadership wing, and served two terms as co-chair of the annual ICRF Revolving Tables fundraiser in support of cancer research. Eric is a co-author of the text Creditors’ Remedies in Ontario, and is also a contributing author to the chapter on receiverships in Canadian Forms and Precedents – Debtor/Creditor.

Eric has been recognized as a “Future Star” by Benchmark Litigation since 2022, and as a Thomson Reuters “Standout Lawyer” since 2023. Eric is a member of The Advocates Society’s Mid-Career Advocates Standing Committee (MASC), as well as Co-Chair of its litigation-focused podcast “Friends Who Argue” and a member of the planning committee for its upcoming 2026 Winter Summit.
