The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) administers trade compliance programs that verifies the origin, tariff classification and value of goods imported into Canada. These verifications can be random verifications or verifications conducted on the basis of CBSA’s verification priorities list. Importers need to be well versed with CBSA’s audit processes in order to understand and mitigate the potential liabilities and penalties that may apply as a result of the CBSA’s verification
