R. v. Greater Sudbury: Owner’s Obligations (and Potential Liability) as an Employer under OHSA
In November 2023 the Supreme Court of Canada issued its decision in R. v. Greater Sudbury (City) dealing with the obligations (and liabilities) of project owners in Ontario under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The decision affects every owner that undertakes a construction project, large or small.
Miller Thomson LLP will be hosting a hybrid seminar for our clients located across Ontario who may be impacted by the decision. Please join Dražen Bulat, Bryan Buttigieg and Lori Goldberg of Miller Thomson LLP’s Construction and Environment Groups for an interactive panel discussion about the decision, including:
- What did the Court decide?
- What is the impact of the decision on owners?
- What steps can owners take to mitigate or reduce the risk of liability?
