Bryan Hicks will present on “Fight or Flight: a practical discussion about litigation and dispute resolution.”

This discussion will provide an overview of the litigation process, including what you should expect in terms of time and financial commitments to pursue a lawsuit. The discussion will also provide some practical tips on how to get to a resolution, either inside or outside of a courtroom (and often a bit of both).

Geoff Mason will present on “Dismissing Employees on Good Terms & Conditions: How to Not Get Sued for Wrongful Dismissal.”

This presentation will cover best practices for employers when ending employment relationships, with a view to managing associated liability risks for employers. Topics will include an overview of wrongful dismissal claims and employers’ related liability exposure, strategies for limiting liability risks through employment contracts and workplace policies, when and how to terminate employment relationships “with cause”, and other practical considerations when carrying out dismissals.
