Overview

Keona is a current J.D. Candidate at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, Keona received a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University, majoring in Sociology and History.

During her studies at the University of Toronto, Keona has served as an executive member of the Asia Law Society and Women & The Law. She was also enrolled as a student caseworker at Downtown Legal Services (DLS), working in the Family Law Division in representing low-income clients on child support and spousal support issues. At DLS, Keona honed her client-management and advocacy skills, as well as her abilities to conduct legal research and writing. She has appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Prior to joining the team at Miller Thomson, Keona worked for a summer at a leading Canadian bank in the legal department, working closely with the team in many areas of law, including corporate governance issues and ESG. Apart from focusing on her studies, Keona volunteered with many of the clubs offered by McGill’s student body, including McGill Women in Leadership and the Fine Arts Council. She also published an article in the annual sociology journal, Verstehen, for which she was also an editor in 2020.

During her free time, Keona enjoys trying new cafes and restaurants, musical theatre, and spending time with her friends and family.
