Melissa Preston runs a civil and commercial litigation practice, focusing primarily on shareholder disputes, professional liability, and general commercial/contractual disputes of all types. Melissa also has experience in municipal, employment, securities, and estate litigation matters. She assists a wide variety of clients, ranging from individual shareholders and directors of small family-run companies to large construction companies and insurers. With a keen eye for detail and a practical approach, Melissa aims for efficient and effective results for her clients while navigating complex legal terrain.

Melissa regularly volunteers her time to legal and charitable initiatives in the Edmonton community. She currently serves as the Chair of the Edmonton office’s Student Hiring Committee, and enjoys meeting bright legal minds and building Miller Thomson’s talented and diverse team of lawyers.

A dedicated legal professional, Melissa is an active member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association, serving on the Legislation and Law Reform Committee (North). Her academic achievements include prestigious accolades such as receiving the Judges’ Bronze Medal in Law and clerking with the Alberta Court of King’s Bench.
