Overview
Verna joined Miller Thomson LLP in September, 2023. She recently moved to BC from the east coast and brings with her over 20 years working as a paralegal in law firms, as well as for a publicly traded company. She has been working as a corporate paralegal in Vancouver since January of 2022, and is excited to join the corporate team at Miller Thomson.
Working in the corporate area of law, Verna drafts documents relating to incorporations, organizations, amalgamations, amendments/alterations, rollovers, redemptions, annual proceedings, dividends, continuances, dissolutions, revivals, extra-provincial registrations, limited partnerships and business name registrations. As well, she assists with corporate and tax reorganizations, financings and share/asset purchase and sales transactions. She conducts minute book reviews, documents deficiencies and recommends remedial actions, conducts corporate searches, and maintains corporate records. She collaborates with lawyers and clients and offers mentorship to intermediate and junior paralegals.
She believes in working closely with the client throughout various corporate transactions, to provide effective and timely communications. Verna’s focus is to assist where she can in moving the file forward and being a valuable and informative resource to both the clients and the lawyers. The years of experience Verna has acquired enables her to recognize needs pro-actively and to be an intricate and valuable team member in various corporate transactions.
