Aperçu
Alice Wong practices civil litigation, focusing primarily on construction and insurance litigation. She has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench in Manitoba, and is experienced in various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration, judicial dispute resolution, and negotiated settlements. Alice is fluent in Cantonese.
Alice provides practical advice and counsel in a number of areas:
Civil litigation: complex contractual disputes, torts and negligence claims, occupiers’ liability, personal injury and fatalities, interim orders, and other relief.
Construction: acting for all sides regarding major public infrastructure projects and understanding project administration, contractual interpretation, and disputes involving delay, productivity, cost overruns, and workmanship claims.
Insurance defense: acting for insurers, insurance-related private businesses, and self-insured corporations in their defense of life and disability claims, construction claims, personal injury, property, and product liability.
Alice maintains an active role in the legal community and is the co-chair of the Civil Litigation North section of the Canadian Bar Association.
In addition to judging the University of Alberta Faculty of Law First Year Moots for the past few years, Alice has volunteered as Duty Counsel and Amicus for Pro Bono Canada, a charitable initiative that offers pro bono legal services to litigants.
