Michael Carli practises commercial real estate including sophisticated institutional projects, commercial real estate purchases, sales and leasing. He also has extensive experience acting for financial institutions and other lenders in commercial mortgage transactions. Michael has a robust practice in mortgage recovery and resolution, acting for financial institutions and private lenders for more than 35 years. As a respected Canadian trademark agent and lawyer, Michael has advised numerous well-known companies on brand preservation and protection, covering a wide range of industries. In addition to prosecuting Canadian trademark applications, Michael has successfully served clients in trademark oppositions and Section 45 proceedings.

Michael’s dedication extends beyond legal experience. His community involvement sets him apart, making him not just a lawyer but a valued member of society. Michael is currently the Vice-Chair of Easter Seals Ontario which awarded him with its Diamond Leadership Award in 2023. He was one of the founding directors of Villanova College and has served as its Chair.

Michael is a proud member of the Law Society of Ontario, the College of Patent and Trademark Agents, and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. Prior to joining Miller Thomson, Michael was a partner at a boutique real estate law firm which he co-founded in 1989.
