Patrick Corney is a Partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency group at Miller Thomson LLP. Pat advises and acts for a wide range of clients regarding financial restructuring and insolvency matters, including debtor-in-possession restructurings under Canada’s insolvency statutes and receiverships. Pat also acts for trustees-in-bankruptcy and maintains a commercial litigation practice.
Pat has significant experience in Canadian and cross-border corporate insolvency matters, including in some of the largest and most complex restructurings in Canada and related litigation. Pat has worked with clients from diverse industries, including steel, technology, retail, cannabis, and energy.

- Essar Steel Algoma, et al (Re): Counsel to the debtors in their $1.2B restructuring under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.
- Fire & Flower Inc., et al (Re): Counsel to a creditor and successful auction bidder in the debtors’ Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act proceeding.
- Just Energy Group Inc., et al (Re): lead counsel for the Ontario Energy Board regarding the Just Energy Group’s CCAA proceeding.
- Ottawa Light Rail Transit Commission: special counsel to the commissioner, the Honourable Justice William Hourigan, regarding his public inquiry into every major stage of Ottawa Light Rail Transit construction project.
